Justice Unplugged

A photo has surface of Justice performing with the controller run by Gaspard clearly not plugged in. The photo has no date, but it is presumably from their recent US "DJ tour" where URB saw them using this set-up at HARD Haunted Mansion. Of course, you can see the USB cable lying next to the controller, meaning Gaspard is probably thinking at that moment "Sacre Blue! Why iz this controller not working!?" rather than "These kidz are so stupiid. I'm not even plugged in!"

Gaspard offers a reasonable explanation:
"Yeah, shit happens! I remember the story, I couldn't remember the city but i think it was in Manchester. I didn't noticed at first, because as you can see I was looking at the computer to launch the next vocal hook and right after I realised that the blue screen went black, so there was no way possible it could work. So I plugged it back in, big deal!  And the next thing you know is this picture."

Comments:

I imagined him saying "Sacre Bleu" too. Very heavy, and very surprised-like.

how do you plug something BACK in that wasn't plugged in to begin with?

Posted Tuesday, November 18, 2008 @ 06:33 by huh

@huh: The guy is French and speaking English, which is NOT his first language. Give him a break. Sheesh. And shame on Urb for even spreading this sort of nonsense.

no chance they're just setting up?

Posted Wednesday, November 19, 2008 @ 02:25 by primitivemachine.net

so basically the usb AND the midi cable came unhooked? doubtful...

Posted Wednesday, November 19, 2008 @ 03:11 by i use an mpd

justice left their talent unplugged... im suprised some failed to mention that!!

Posted Wednesday, November 19, 2008 @ 03:12 by lol

Yeah, they look pretty sweaty like they've been rocking for a while... either way i don't care because they suck.

"so basically the usb AND the midi cable came unhooked? doubtful..." I guess you aren't familiar with how these work. The midi data is sent over the USB. No MIDI cable needed. Most devices like that don't even allow the midi-out to work while it is sending midi data over the USB.

doesn't look like anything is feeding into any of the channels of the mixer either.

URB does great false reporting again! Go to Justice Myspace page, to see three pics. 1. (before) with the cable plugged in, 2. the famous pic of the cable "unplugged", 3. the cable plugged back in. Not scandal or mystery here. To quote Gaspard, "Big Deal"!!!

they are all djing playback. saw mr oizo a month ago and he played exactly the same mix he has played a month ago. i knew every following track.

Their MySpace pics has an "unplugged" photo sequence for all you haters. http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewPicture&friendID=19700933&albumId=2221315 Eat it.

Maaaaan I see right thru their little cover-up. The color of the end of the midi plug goes from black to distinctly gray, and back to black. Phony baloney, yall!!!!

Posted Thursday, November 20, 2008 @ 05:57 by cmad

it was actually URB who informed Justice about the existence of these pics when we called them for a quote. the comments on the myspace photos just started at 1:20 AM (paris time i assume) last night. but whatever- monty is new to the internet. he'll figure out how it works if we're all patient.

I know one of the roadies... he told me Gaspard is not really doing much live... which seems to be proven here. But another thing is, that the Marshall amplifier walls... well, they are fake! Nothing inside, empty. But sure looks impressive....

Too many artists faking the funk out there. I love catching these fakers attempt to play live with Ableton using only two tracks of finished songs. Ableton is a brilliant sequencer for live gigs and playing multi tracks at a time and yet these sucker duck punks chose to fake it by mixing already finished beat mapped songs. You might as well send a mix CD and cardboard cutout of yourself to the event organizer if you are going to fake it like that.

"I know one of the roadies... he told me Gaspard is not really doing much live... which seems to be proven here." Supposedly Gaspard is the brains behind the production half of Justice.

ummm... his MIDI controler doesn't even have power to it... the AC jack has NOTHING plugged into it! haha

Posted Wednesday, November 26, 2008 @ 12:28 by WASSUP!!??

"ummm... his MIDI controler doesn't even have power to it... the AC jack has NOTHING plugged into it! haha" Don't get too excited. Most MIDI interfaces - including this one - can be powered from the USB cable, and AC power is just an option.

Why don't you guys just be smart and only listen to Daedelus. some real live production genius with a pioneer of the Monome midi/osc controller device.

Posted Thursday, November 27, 2008 @ 03:31 by fools

Who cares if it's faked. It's all samps and synths anyway. Just go with it and enjoy the beats. The visuals are just there to build energy and spectacle. If I had a dollar for every time I embellished my movements, playing, knobturning, etc. onstage for the sake of showmanship I wouldn't have to play shows anymore.

Give them some credit seriously, half of you don't know what you're going on about "no power cable", 'no midi cable", "i know the roadies and they say ..." blah blah blah, IF you have ever been to one of there shows/sets you'll know how energetic there sets are, and if you have one of those MPD24 you'll know how the flimsy the USB slots are ... actually, that goes for most USB devices. Give them a break, you think you can do better? go ahead.
